Accept online payment
One of the benefits of having an online business means you can work with people who live almost anywhere. You need a way for them to pay you online that’s also safe and secure.
The Websites + Marketing Premium plan allows you to get paid for online appointments, and the Commerce plan allows you to get paid for items in your store. However, you can still get paid even if you don’t have one of those two plans. (Compare plans and pricing.)
Goals for this section:
- Add a PayPal payment button (all plans).
- Add a gift card option (all plans).
- Add payment for online appointments and events (Premium plan).
- Add payment for online store products (Commerce plan).

Add a PayPal payment button
PayPal buttons allow you to sell a single product or enable customers to donate to a cause you choose. You can add up to 15 PayPal buttons to your website.
If you don’t already have a PayPal account, use a separate tab or window to create a PayPal account. The PayPal button on your site will work with either a personal or a business account. (If you have online appointments or an online store, you’ll need a business account.)
In your site, open your website editor by selecting Edit Site.
Go to where you want the PayPal button, and add a section. Search for PayPal Button. Select which layout you want and select Add.
Select PayPal Settings and then type or paste your PayPal email address.
Customize the button text, title, description, image, etc.
Remember to publish your site so your changes are visible to everyone else.
Add a gift card option
Another way to get paid online is to let people buy a gift card from you using Square.
First, you’ll need a Square account. In a separate tab or window, create or open your Square account and find and copy your gift card URL.
In your site, open your Website Editor and add a section.
Search for Gift Card and select Add.
Select Gift Card Settings and then paste the Square gift card URL link.
Customize the button text, title, description, etc. and even choose if you want to show connected social media accounts.
Remember to publish your site so your changes are live to everyone else.
Add payment for online appointments and events
If you have an online event, or offer consulting phone or video calls, then it’s important to get online payments. You’ll need the Premium plan to set up online appointment payments.
From your Dashboard, go to Settings, and then select Appointments > Payments. (If you’re in your Website Builder, use the drop-down in the upper-left corner and then select Appointments.)
Follow the instructions to connect PayPal, Square, or both.

Add payment for online store products
If you have an online store, you’ll need the Commerce plan to accept online store payments.
From your Dashboard, go to Settings, and then select Store > Payments. (If you’re in your Website Builder, use the drop-down in the upper-left corner and then select Store.)
Follow the instructions to connect to GoDaddy Payments, PayPal, Square or Stripe.
And there it is. Your seed of a website has now sprouted!
You’ve come a long way. You’ve set up your visual brand identity and customized your home page (and the rest of your pages) with text, images, and video. Your SEO is set up so you can get found online, and you’ve connected to social media and online ways to get paid.
From here, continue to customize your content. Share what you’re doing on social media and your blog. Pick a rhythm (once a month, once a week) and be consistent. Perhaps even build an email list.
